Academy Award winning Moriah Films hosted the world premiere of its latest production, "Winston Churchill: Walking with Destiny" at the Cineplex Varsity Theatre today. The premiere was preceded by a gala reception at the Windsor Arms Hotel.

Cineplex Entertainment President & CEO, and event co-Chair Ellis Jacob said, "This film, about a great statesman who had the courage to confront the Nazi war machine when others advised appeasement, is a timely reminder of the vital importance of taking a stand against evil."

Event co-Chair Norman Bacal, co-Managing Partner of Heenan Blaikie, echoed this sentiment. "The world today would arguably be a far darker place had Winston Churchill not faced the bullies of the world with the courage of his convictions and an acute sense of personal responsibility. The parallels to our situation today cannot be clearer. I advise anyone who is concerned about current world politics to see this film," added Bacal.

"Winston Churchill: Walking with Destiny" is the 11th documentary produced by Moriah Films, a division of the Simon Wiesenthal Center in Los Angeles, which won an academy award for 'Genocide' in 1981 and another for 'The Long Way Home' in 1997. "The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) in Toronto is proud to be involved as co-producer in such a great project that will be seen by hundreds of students who participate in our educational programs each year," said Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of FSWC.

Rabbi Marvin Hier, Dean and Founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, joined more than 500 leaders of Toronto's philanthropic, business and entertainment communities at the Premiere. The event was in support of Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies, a Canadian human rights organization dedicated to fostering tolerance and understanding through community involvement, educational outreach and social action.
