HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Joseph Harper, Sterling's President commented, "We are very pleased to be included in the Russell 3000(R) and Russell 2000(R) Indexes, which we expect will increase Sterling's visibility with investors and institutions that rely on the Russell indexes as part of their investment strategy."
Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies. An industry-leading $4.4 trillion in assets currently are benchmarked to them. Investment managers who oversee these funds purchase shares of member stocks according to a company's weighting in the particular index. Annual reconstitution of Russell indexes captures the 3,000 largest U.S. stocks as of the end of May, ranking them by total market capitalization to create the Russell 3000(R). The largest 1,000 companies in the ranking comprise the Russell 1000(R) while the remaining 2,000 companies become the widely used Russell 2000(R). Sterling is a leading heavy civil construction company, headquartered in Houston, Texas, that specializes in the building, reconstruction and repair of transportation and water infrastructure in large and growing markets in Texas and Nevada. Its transportation infrastructure projects include highways, roads, bridges and light rail, and its water infrastructure projects include water, wastewater and storm drainage systems. Source:
