MONTREAL, June 27 /CNW/ - Dr. Roger Korman, Chairman & CEO of Aptilon Corporation ("Aptilon" or the "Corporation") (TSX-V: APZ), an innovative leader of on-line marketing services to physicians, today announced the election of Mr. Justin Beckett and Mr. Robert Boisjoli to the Corporation's Board of Directors at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders held on June 27, 2008. The new directors replace Mr. Jeffrey Wasserstein and Mr. Loftus S. Lucas who did not stand for re-election.
Messrs. Beckett and Boisjoli bring to the Board valuable skills and experience to assist the Corporation with its business development agenda. With more than 60,000 US physicians already registered in its Allied Health Partners loyalty network, Aptilon foresees developing opportunities in on-line advertising and sponsored media programs both for health and non-health products and services. Mr. Beckett has successfully developed several on-line communities of interest. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Fluid Music. Prior to founding Fluid Music in 2004, Mr. Beckett founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of SkillJam Technologies Corporation. He also founded Music Gaming, Inc., which was sold to Intermix/MySpace (AMEX: IMEX) in 2001. Prior to his focus on Internet-based consumer product applications, Mr. Beckett was an Executive Vice President and principal of Sloan Financial Group, a diversified financial services firm. Mr. Beckett received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University.
Mr. Boisjoli brings to the Aptilon Board his impressive financial and business analysis expertise. He is currently the President of Atwater Financial Group Inc., a corporate finance boutique, and he was, until recently, the Chief Financial Officer and co-founder of Xanthus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Prior to joining Xanthus, Mr. Boisjoli was head of Investment Banking in Quebec for various Canadian securities firms where his activities involved raising equity for emerging companies in both the fields of biotech and information technology. Mr. Boisjoli was instrumental in setting up a mutual fund primarily involving smaller capitalization technology firms. Prior to his career in investment banking, Mr. Boisjoli spent ten years as a business valuator with two leading firms specializing in business valuation. During his career, Mr. Boisjoli has valued over 500 businesses for general corporate finance purposes and has assisted numerous enterprises in their pursuit of strategic mergers and or acquisitions. Mr. Boisjoli has also lectured at the graduate level at McGill University and on behalf of the Order of Chartered Accountants. Mr. Boisjoli is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Business Valuator. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Graduate Diploma in Accountancy from Concordia University.
The Corporation's Board of Directors is now comprised of Roger Korman, Chairman & CEO, Justin Beckett, Mark Benthin, COO, Robert Boisjoli, Tommy Boman, André Brosseau, and Denis Martineau, President.
Aptilon also announced the appointment of KPMG LLP as the new auditors of the Corporation.
