Michael Payne joins Board of Directors Jun 11, 2008 12:17:00 PM
MONTREAL, June 11 /CNW Telbec/ - Mr. Payne has had an accomplished and distinguished career in the sports marketing industry. He currently runs his own strategic global consultancy with major sports organisations, governments, media organisations and companies as clients. Upon leaving the IOC after the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, Mr. Payne was, for a time, special advisor to F1 Chief Bernie Ecclestone, on such things as media and marketing rights. When Mr. Payne joined the IOC in 1983, he was hired to create the first ever global marketing strategy for the Olympic Games, and subsequently served as the first marketing director of the International Olympic and director of the Olympic global broadcast and media rights Committee, overseeing marketing of 15 Summer and Winter Games.
The Corporation also announces that Mr. Jean-Denis Talon, who served as a director of the Corporation since 2004, confirmed prior to the meeting that he would not seek re-election to the Board and resigned for personal reasons effective June 6, 2008. Pierre Boivin, Chairman of the Board, thanked Mr. Talon for his service on the Board since 2004 and was pleased to welcome Mr. Payne: "Michael Payne is one of the most influential marketers in the sports world. His expertise and his relationships in the world of sports management, sports properties and media rights will be invaluable to Kangaroo Media over the coming years." The other Board members re-elected at the Annual Meeting of Shareholders are Pierre Boivin, Marc Arseneau, Justin F. Beckett, Jean Arseneau, Alain Charette, Alain Rhéaume, George J.
