Assault on angler May 15, 2008 4:02:00 PM
CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON, May 15 /CNW/ - City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an assault on an angler that occurred near Kirkfield, Ontario. On Sunday May 11, 2008 at approximately 12:30 a.m., the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP responded to a report of an assault that occurred on the Trent River, near a bridge on Bolsover Road. An unknown male approached a group of Asian Canadian anglers who were fishing in the Trent River and spoke to them about the fishing. The male then pushed one of the men into the water. The unknown male fled the area in a small red car traveling northbound on Bolsover Road.
The male is described as white, between 30 and 40 years of age, with straight, short black hair, clean shaven and was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. The OPP is appealing for the public's assistance in identifying those responsible for this assault and several others over the past year against anglers. The OPP remains committed to ensuring that communities are safe and secure and to holding those accountable that threaten that security.
